PCGA sponsored The Khronos Group’s BOF at SIGGRAPH
Posted on October 1st, 2013
The PCGA recently sponsored The KHRONOS Group’s BOF event at SIGGRAPH Anaheim 2013. Guests were treated to a kick-ass booth of gaming computers, free to use and loaded up with gear from PCGA’s members: Intel and Alienware computers with Intel’s latest processors and AMD’s best chips, running great games from Capcom and Meteor Entertainment, hooked up to high-end Logitech peripherals.
In other words? It was the complete PC gaming experience. The latest and greatest from Capcom looked beautiful in higher-than-console resolutions – Remember Me, Resident Evil: Revelations, and Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition all served up the pixel candy without dropping a frame, helping them to feel great on the responsive and comfortable keyboards and mice, provided by Logitech.
Many attendees had never heard of Meteor Entertainment’s flagship product H.A.W.K.E.N. before, and it proved a highlight of the show. The first-person giant robot combat, complete with detailed cockpit, proved so immersive that even onlookers felt involved with the action. “This looks so amazing that it makes me want to start playing games again,” said one guest. Another small victory in our fight for hearts and minds!
We would be remiss if we failed to mention that H.A.W.K.E.N. runs on Epic Games’ Unreal technology – yet another PCGA team member’s contribution to the show.
One of the rigs on display was an Alienware gaming laptop, which performed right alongside the full-sized towers, proof that the PC gaming experience is alive and well across a multitude of form factors.
The booth served as a demonstration of the awesome power of the PC as a gaming machine, and of the potency of PCGA’s members in particular, coming together to create a machine which has everything.
